This is the NAA Teacher guide for National NIE Week 2005. We all
come from different cultures and backgrounds. We benefit in personal,
social and educational ways when we learn from the cultures of
others. This teacher’s guide looks at the role the newspaper
can play in developing children’s literacy skills in a
multicultural society. The activities are based on accepted education
theories about the way children learn and the resources children
bring to the learning setting.
