Creating a Lifetime of Geographic Education
Through a Lifetime of Newspaper Reading (6-12) The lessons in this
curriculum guide stimulate students to think geographically about
world events as they are occurring. Each lesson incorporates critical
thinking skills by inviting the student to question, to probe, to
analyze and to look for relationships. The lessons focus on the
"learner outcomes" for secondary students from the
Guidelines for Geographic Education, published by the Joint Committee
on Geographic Education. These relate to the five themes basic to the
study of geography: location, place, relationships, movement and
